More racing for those not going to Weymouth...

... or those on the multi-boat program!

The High Performance Dinghy Open is being held at the American Yacht Club on Long Island Sound over Thanksgiving weekend (Columbus Day south of the 49th), on October 10th, 2011.

It's been running since 2004, and has a beer for the title sponser, so you know it's going to be good!

Results and Regatta Report - RCYC HPT Regatta

We had a great turnout at our first regatta of the year.  Light winds on day one led to close racing with a lot of tight mark roundings and many lead changes.  Day two was far windier, with the prospect of capsizing into the 5 degree April water keeping a few of the boats on shore.  Races 1-6 were on day 1, races 7-8 on day 2.

Photos from Saturday will be available soon!

More from RCYC.ca:

"34 boats in the laser, laser radial, 29er, 49er, and International 14 fleet sailed in the 4th
annual RCYC HPT regatta. Winds varied from Saturday’s light and variable 3-5 south
westerly on Saturday and 10-15 from the East on Sunday (and it was very cold!). Most
fleets completed 8 races and the entire event success was found through good starts, boat
handling and solid wind shift management.

In the International 14 fleet peter Hayward managed to be consistent on day one and
when the breeze picked up showed superior speed and won the event while being
challenged all the way by fellow RCYC member Chris Leigh. In the last race of the 2nd
day Chrsitain Pavey showed he will be a force to reckon with as the season progresses as
he successfully managed to port tack the fleet."
